The Island Life in Tobago

Trinidad’s mini island, Tobago. The name comes from its blunt shaped land, reminding tobacco. This beautiful treasure island has all you need. Lively and happy vibes, a colorful nature, and lovely people will make you wish you’d live here.

Crown Point

More likely the crown jewel of Tobago. Here, is where all the bacchanal happens. The airport is right next to the beach. In fact, so close that when landing, it’ll look like landing on water. After collecting your bags, you basically walk out in Store Bay Beach. The first step in Tobago. All you see will be familiar faces. Those people back in Trini, the few you saw in the airport or shared the flight with. All these people on the way will encounter you a couple of times in Store Bay and Crown Point.

.

Carolina Point Resort

Found through Airbnb. On Pigeon Point Road, Crown Point, in the middle of all the bacchanal. Minutes away from beaches, restaurants, sea sports, and entertainment. A Reggae Bar right across the road. We named it the Bob Marley Bar, since every day his music would reach this cute resort to complete the ambiance.

The room was big and bright. More like a studio with a high ceiling. Beautiful bathroom. Big bed in the middle, a couch, mini table with chairs and all basics are covered. The garden was huge and fascinating, also with an own mini jungle in the back. However, since we were constantly out, there was no time left to enjoy the garden like in Barbados. The owner –who is a little too chatty and extremely social– will happily tell you all the places to be!

Dine In Style

One drive around Crown Point and you will be confused by the endless choices there are. I remember driving around the same route for about three times and all the restaurants were as appealing and inviting as the one before. Suddenly you want to eat everything! Whatever we chose, we were not disappointed. But to make a list and a top three here is my choice.

Crafters

Steakhouse and grill. Casual and cozy. Relaxed like a sports bar type of place, yet still classy. Nevermind the looks, what had got me in this place was the taste of happiness. Carved in my mind! Steak in wine sauce with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes on the side. Perfect! with every bite heavenly. After, I got my lovely coffee. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. One of the best I have tasted. What got me surprised was the extremely mild taste. Almost sweet on its own. As a coffee lover, I like to try out different types and tastes of coffee, this one was extraordinary.

Cafe Coco

Right next to our Bob Marley bar. Five stars, Coco Reef restaurant. Elegant, classy, a tropical fairytale kind of open air restaurant. Waterfall like fountains lit up on all sides, a beautiful bridge to walk over. It feels magical. The menu presents you local cuisine with a Mediterranean touch. I chose the Lobster and Steak with steamed vegetables, rice, and white wine. You can’t leave Tobago without eating their crab and lobsters! Especially the national dish crab and dumpling.

The Overhang

Casual and relaxed. The dark interior brings a classy ambiance. withal the main draw is its balcony bar, hanging over the street where you can watch the liveliness of Tobago while dining. The menu looks quite appealing, seems like everything is delicious here so just go with your own favorite. Though, I got to point out. The chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream is one dessert you can not miss out on. Heavenly.

Shopping In The Tropics

In my opinion, I rather small local stores along the way, hidden in between the streets. The gifts shops around the beaches, fruit trucks everywhere. It’s not a price or quality matter. Simply because I like those gifts, clothes, and accessories. Either hand made or a local product, it is a part of that place. Unique to where you have been. Some even cultural! Those you can never find in big malls. Yet still, malls have some handy purposes. Like fast food, movies (if you find time for it), and some nice quality stores if needed. Mostly because it has everything under one roof. So I’ll list you a few malls which are worth visiting.

Gulf City Mall

In Lowlands Crown Point, close to Shirvan Plaza. 45.000 Sq. feet of shopping area. It is called the jewel of Tobago shopping. The biggest shopping mall you can find in Tobago. A lot of choice in retail and food courts. Original brands and stores

Shirvan Plaza

On the way to Mount Irvin, you’ll see Shirvan Plaza. There are more restaurants than stores, nevertheless, it is worth to take a look. Time To Wine seems like a cute wine lounge. Definitely, the place to wine and dine, enjoy the lounge. Then turn right and follow the road to Mt. Irvin. Watch the sunset at the beach. Since the lounge is too crowded, you might find it more comfortable to bring your bottle to the Bay and enjoy the sunset accompanied by your favorite wine.

Coast Of Crown Point

Exquisite beaches, sand of gold. Either full of people, all interacting like in Store Bay. Or quiet and peaceful, almost private, like in Mt. Irvin.

Store Bay Beach

Right next to the airport in Crown Point. The most cheerful beach, full of people. Most of them you will recognize after some time. Seeing the same faces, which all friendly and greeting. Random people start waving at you because they recognize you. Feels like being around with your own people. The sound of Bob Marley shouting from the diner in the back. Surrounded by happy and joyful vibes. If you need to stash up before your trip, this is the place to be. Make sure to check the gift shops. Those coconut hut shops are the cutest so far. You could even braid your hair and start dreads. Swim, dive, fete’s, and lime. All possible in Store Bay.

Mount Irvin Bay Beach

A quiet and peaceful beach. Park your car and watch the view, walk around, take a swim. No one will bother you. There might be one maybe two pairs of people but that’s it. The waves here are strong though. As we were playing in the waves like little children, I almost broke my neck. In spite of, the laughs were inevitable. We came back here a lot. Just to lime and relax.

Pigeon Point Heritage Park

Told to be Crown Points nicest beach. There are a lot of things to do like boat tours and jet ski rides. Surely it is less crowded than Store Bay since you have to pay for entrance. Anyhow, an amazing beach and fun moments await you. On the beach, people will approach you for boat tours and events. Take my word for it, in spite of they might seem a little pushy, go along with them. Ask for Jetski Jesus! He will arrange you everything you need and link you with the right people. You can ask him anything! Take the boat tour through Buccoo Reef, Nylon Pool, and No Man’s Land.

Buccoo Reef

The first destination. With the glass-bottom boat, you can see the charming underwater world around Buccoo Reef. Snorkeling is possible if you wish, they’ll throw a rope for everyone to hold on since the waves are extremely strong. I went in head first. And everything changed. I saw beautiful blue fishes swimming through colored corals. Different kinds and colors. One even more beautiful than the other. Wonderful, I thought. Swimming around looking at the beauty nature created.  Though, there is more to see heading to our next destination.

Nylon Pool

In the middle of the ocean, miles away from land. This wonder of nature is a pool in the ocean, where you can stand on your feet. The water will reach till your waist. While stopping there, Jet ski Jesus and more others will come by. Bottles of soda and alcohol will be thrown into the sea. Everybody jumps out. Soca music set out loud. Dance, laugh, drink, swim. Everybody is chill with you, and the vibe is indescribable. We hadn’t had this much fun and laughter in Oistins Barbados. And if you have read it, you’ll know that it was fun.

No Man’s Land

A stretch of uninhabited and exquisite sandy beach lapped by the most kaleidoscopic waters you will ever see. The Bon Accord Lagoon is fringed by mangrove wetlands and an important habitat for many species of birds. Because of this wetland, the whole area is only accessible by boat. No Man’s Land isn’t an island, rather a spit of white coral-sand stretching out in front of the lagoon. The spot is surrounded by clear shallow water and speckled with leafy trees and small forest growth on either side of a long path that makes up the dance floor to dozens of brightly colored dragonflies. It is easily one of the most beautiful spots in all of Tobago

Englishman’s Bay

The most stunning beach in Tobago. It is an hour away from Crown Point, yet the drive alone would be worth it. The view on the way is at most amazing. Go up high in the mountains, surrounded by mother nature. The view on top, down to Englishman’s Bay is, without a doubt, the prettiest view of Tobago. Down at the beach, there is just one hut. The only hut where all the pictures are taken was occupied by a group of fisherman. They sit and lime together after the morning catch. That is a picture on its own.

Passing by the sweet lady by her gift shop we walked down the beach, all the way to the end. Finding the perfect spot ever! It had a super small pathway going back up the woods, beautifully shaped rocks falling down the ocean. Behind us, there was a small river flowing. All crystal clear waters, colored up by sunlight. Shadows of leaves, creating wonderful patterns on golden sands. The waves were heavy, however, that won’t stop us from swimming.

Turtle Watching

Magnificent creatures. Anyone snorkeling the reefs of Tobago has a good chance of seeing marine turtles swimming among the reefs, as Tobago is home to the hawksbill turtle, the green turtle, and the giant leatherback turtle. The nesting season runs from January to September and takes place at night. Turtle Beach is the prime nesting site. Although, many more beaches include the season like Stone Haven Bay and Bloody Bay.

Most of these beaches are protected at night (for really good reasons). Therefore going with a certified guide would be the best option as the money will help to protect the turtles. These adorable wild things are so fragile and easily deterred. Even the slightest light and noises are enough to scare and discourage them. I can’t believe the people attempting to ride their backs! To my opinion, don’t even bother bringing a camera or phone. Leave this precious moment for your own memory. Moments like these are not easily found back. Besides, Google has enough pictures already.

The turtle hatching happens sixty days later. Witnessing this moment is as precious as the nesting! Once they break out they immediately head into the ocean, which makes it a shorter experience, nonetheless, just as amazing!

Dive With Turtles

Dazzling coral reefs, full of colorful fishes and turtles. Snorkeling is never enough! You need to dive this. In this website, you can find all the dive locations and shops in Trinidad & Tobago. With a description about the dive spot. The underwater world is something different. Its mystique, colorful, in peace. Almost what heaven is made of.

Hike Up Argyle Falls

At 175 feet aka 55 meters, Argyle Falls. Tobago’s highest waterfall. Another wonder of the world with its cascade of cool, crisp water that flows down from three dramatic levels. Located on the northeast side of Tobago. To reach these astonishing falls you have to walk an absolutely amazing path of nature. With lush colorful flora on both sides. Adoring shades of green sparkled up by sunlight. Enriched by the sounds of rushing rivers. The walk is a calming exposure. Along the way, you are greeted by butterflies and a variety of birds.

As the adventurous you are, you can hike up the bushy path on the right side to the second level. Here you are greeted by a thick mist. At this level, you can lie in several natural rock tubs and let the water rush over your body. Reaching the third level it is good to know that the smallest pool is the deepest and the best for swimming. Inviting you to dive, jump or swing into the water from available lines.

Barbados: The Caribbean Wanderlust

Sun, sea and carefree! This Bajan experience was Amazing! The food, nature, beaches, all its wonders, and the locals. Not to mention, Rihanna’s hometown. This Caribbean journey in Barbados is carved in my memory, a heavenly place everyone should see!

Stay In The Bajan Paradise

Wonderful home, this Caribbean dream house in Speightstown. Karen’s place found through Airbnb. My most favored app for finding private accommodations all over the word. Like a charming garden suite with a private pool deck and ocean view. The room had everything in need, a beautiful bathroom. Clean, fresh, and cozy. An adorable room with a pleasant book collection. But who is going to sit inside in Barbados?

Outside the Garden Suite

One big garden as a balcony, with many tropical birds, tortoises, cat, and dogs walking around. A beautiful swimming pool deck, with all kinds of flowers and a lovely seating around. A little walk around the pool is an enchanting gazebo. Which, is my adored spot to sit read a book in the night. Watching shooting stars, the full moon and its light dancing on the ocean. The sky is so widely open, you could fall into its limitlessness. Definitely a paradise! Outside the garden is lush and tropical. There are regular visits from monkeys. Amazing sunsets and the firefly displays are magical. It’s a perfect haven for nature lovers.

Lovely people living in Eversince

The housemaid and keeper. Sadly, I never got their names. Yet I want to thank them, for all they have done during the stay. A dear sweet lady! On the door, I read “The quieter you become, the more you hear.” Very interesting quote, one I find comforting. Reminded me of Desiderata “Remember what peace there may be in silence, keep peace with your soul.” Don’t let anyone ruin it. The direct link to Karen’s place on Airbnb, to stay at this beautiful peaceful paradise.

Enjoy The Local Cuisine

As a Fish lover, every island is my heaven. Fried, grilled or baked, all kinds of fish. And who wouldn’t enjoy a sea view dinner? Visit Beach House for an elegantly dazzling restaurant where top notch service is to be expected. Flambeaus and torches lighten up the place romantically. I couldn’t take my eyes of the fire lights on the sea. The Menu fits this perfectly blending local flavors and spices with a Mediterranean flair. The daily catch flying fish, and steaks. I wanted to leave the flying fish for Oistins, so I chose the steak. Heavenly delicious steak! This taste is indescribable, you’d have to try it for yourself. After dinner, of course, sweet desserts and an espresso to end with a finishing touch. An adored evening is assured.

An evening at Oistins fish fry

Especially on a Friday night at the fish fry at Oistins Bay Garden! Eat, drink, dance, walk at the beach. There is so much to live for. Food is the main draw. Shark, marlin, swordfish, mahi-mahi, flying fish(the national dish), tuna and much more. Each and every one more delicious than before. Grilled or fried, it’s all cooked on the spot in front of you. Bajan locals around to laugh and drink with. It is amazing how lively a place can be with flavors, colors, music and a little vibe.

Even more to do in Oistins

There are art and craft items on sale, including original paintings, pottery, jewelry, leather craft, straw craft, wood carvings, ceramics, and accessories. Bob Marley, Jamaican Ska, Soca, and Calypso are mostly played around the place. Some nights a live band performs. Get up and dance! Collect fish scraps from the fish market and feed the turtles, walk on the pier and catch a great sunset. Meet with people, talk with them, dance with them. Have fun!

Where to go in Barbados

Out of so many Bajan wonders, I have listed a few of my most favored spots. Deep in the ground or underwater, wandering in the tropical jungle or sailing into the sunset. This island is one exciting heaven.

Adventure at Harrison’s Cave

At the heart of Barbados lies one of it’s greatest wonders. Crystallized limestone cavern. Flowing streams, deep pools of crystal clear water – which promises to keep you young when you drink it. Towering columns, white flowstones, and speleothems characterize this living cave. Including rooms as high as 20 meters or passages with just enough space to crawl through. Be careful where you step though, you might be walking into quicksand

Sailing on Jolly Roger’s Cruise

Choose from the lunch snorkel cruise or the sunset snorkel. Both cruises offer a barbecue buffet and unlimited drinks. You can swim with turtles and snorkel around shipwrecks. Rope swinging, shaded spaces, and plank walking bring up the fun around. A top deck for sunbathing and dinner is included. The greatest party awaits you with Pina Coladas and Rum Punch at the end. Sounds like the total cliche, however, it is extremely fun.

Dive around shipwrecks

Scuba diving. One of the most interesting sports I have ever done. The underwater world is different. It is peaceful and silent, yet lively and colorful. An amazing sense everyone should perceive. Dive with Reefers and Wreckers in Speightstown Barbados. These people will help you through, even if you feel claustrophobic and anxious. So that you could experience this anyhow. Don’t miss out on this world. Dive around reefs and actual shipwrecks, live this fascinating underworld.

Nature in Hunte’s Garden

Hunte’s Gardens, located in lush hills of St. Joseph’s. Their placement is really most unusual with vigorous plants densely growing on many levels. From sunny and open spaces, down to a mysterious, dark heart of real Caribbean jungle. There are relaxing hidden benches among the greenery. Be sure to have your camera ready, as birds and animals love to visit this garden too. A charming walk path will lead you to many surprises. Combined vibrant colors and rare exotic plants will take your breath away. The creator of this graceful beauty, Antony Hunte, is the heart and the soul of this place. He is mostly in his garden or around his extraordinary house, which is actually converted from an old stable. You are more than welcome for a glass of rum punch and fascinating stories.

Animal Flower Cave

The name “Animal Flower Cave” comes from the sea anemones found in the pools of the cave. Some of these pools are deep enough for you to swim in. There are also several openings looking out to sea, offering spectacular views. The walls of the cave are full of beautifully colored formations. Be sure to also stop in at the clifftop bar and restaurant, serving the best lemonade in Barbados, along with other refreshing drinks and local cuisine.

Must visit these beaches

The West Coast of Barbados is also known for Gold Coast. Due to calm, clear, turquoise water and its creamy golden sands. Perfect for diving, snorkeling, swimming and chilling. Although the east coast is more up for surfers.

  • Heywoods Beach – Speightstown
  • Sandy Lane Beach – Holetown
  • Carlisle Bay Beach – Bridgetown
  • Rockley Beach – Hastings
  • Dover Beach – St. Lawrence Gap

I must say, the beaches I have seen in Barbados, are breathtakingly graceful. Gold blends in with turquoise then shine sparkly through the sun. Watching all the colors, change in the sky. Listening to fading sounds of music, blowing with breezes. The sound of these tropical birds. It all completes the true Caribbean feeling. The feeling of beauty.

British Escape In London

A city of high tea, shopping sprees, the English culture, and royalty. A sweet escape in the great city of England. This is one of those cities you have to see at least once in your lifetime, do all the cliches there are. To blend in with the Brittish people. From Shoreditch to Notting hill in London, This is the place to be!

Sleep like a Queen of England

Near the Tower Bridge, River Thames and the Tower of London. In the historic building remaining from 1922, opened the brand new Four Seasons Hotel – Ten Trinity. Full of warm and rich elements, yet chic and modern. Beautiful city view. For two nights I’d suggest the Weekend Escape offer. Affordable prices for luxurious suites which are sleek and sophisticated.

With all the services that come with this offer, you will feel like a Queen. Since the hotel is in the center of the city, you can go shopping, drink tea, get dinner or do every cliche there is. All within walking distance. Then return to your palace, and enjoy a luxury spa sanctuary or any other of many elegant services, special for you. To make your relaxing after a heavy city trip worth it. Take the Deluxe Room for two with your love for a romantic weekend. For ladies who adore the royal treatment, Executive Room for four is the choice.

Fine dining in London

Located in the heart of London, in the Convent Garden. Souk Medina. Remarkable Northern African cuisine with a touch of 1001 nights. Everything in this place is Marocco. The taste, music, feeling and everything around. Dining seats are located such as Marrakesh, Djanet, Casablanca and Agadir. Full of elements special to that city. Personally, I loved the balcony seat in Djanet. Nevertheless, when you take a look in Souk Medina, it’ll be hard to make a decision.

.

Harrira soup is one of the most delicious soups I have ever tasted. -That was when I worked with Morrocan people, they would bring food all over the place. Especially to feed this way-too-skinny girl. I didn’t have to look twice when I saw the soup on the menu. Because my next choice will be Tagine! Either fish or spicy lamb or chicken. Delicious. The best trick is actually to find a Morrocan, be friends with it and make sure to visit their moms quite often. You won’t leave without eating.

Best coffee in the City

A dark, corner building with a light, refreshing interior. TomTom Coffee House. Minimalistic and modern elements meeting the typical British ambiance. Especially on a rainy day! The coffee? Heavenly in every style.

Cocktails in the sky

Yes! In the sky, with an amazing view all over London. SkyLounge. Be there before the sun sets, to catch the day and night view at once. Cocktails of all colors, flavors, and shapes. A nice menu of sweets and chocolate. The place to sit back, enjoy a cocktail with your friends and adore the view of Tower Bridge.

Brittish shopping spree

The trendsetting fashion city of the sixties! Carnaby street, the place to be in Swinging London. Where the youth decided fashion. With bright colors, synthetic clothing, and miniskirts a revolutionary step was taken from the fifties’ Paris. A time of futurism and flower power. However modern day London is still a highly favored shopping spot.

Box Park

East London in Shoreditch, one huge hotspot. After a long shop hunt, you can have boundless dinners in the Box Park. Cuisine from 20 different countries, way too many varieties. All are way too delicious. Brunches, tapas, Cocktails and drinks on a rooftop terrace! Although, this hotspot is not done yet. It has a limitless events agenda, an immense party point. Don’t forget your shopping bags though!

Liberty

A luxury department store in Regent Street, Carnaby! Opened in 1875. Features that time of era blended with an elegant and classic interior. From beauty and home decor to fashion and accessories. Everything is findable in high quality. Brands such as Maria Tash, Celine, Byredo, Givenchy, Cocoa Loco, Keiko, and Dior. Webshop also available.

A nightlife escape

London’s famous nightlife – and day life for that matter- has so much to offer, it will be impossible to not miss out. Clubbing, concerts, (open) theater shows, festivals, art, and museum. There are 101 things to do with or without kids. Whenever it is you plan to go, make sure to check your dates on timeout.

Antalya: A Luxurious Summer

Exquisite beaches, first-class resorts,  culture and friendly people. You will fall in love with this country over and over again. Delightfully rich Turkish culinary. One of the most important things in Turkey, Cooking! Every city has its own dishes which are all different and tasteful. Elegant nightlife, bars, and restaurants. Just a few of so many what Antalya has to offer. Summer love memories are to be created.

First-class resorts

There are too many hotels to choose from, impossible to pick just one. Thus my advice will be this entire road, for miles long across the ocean. Lara tourism road. Filled with luxury resorts, so the choice is yours. However, here is my selection of admired hotels

.

Replicas of world famous architecture

Like the Kremlin Palace and Topkapi Palace. Exact look-a-like and completely designed for your comfort until the last little detail. Venezia Palace Resort is a complimentary hotel as well, make sure to check them out before deciding. Some other replicas I favor would be Titanic Beach Resort and Concorde Deluxe Resort. Resembling the plane crash and the famous love boat of course. Despite expected top class service which will make you feel like royalty, don’t hide in your resort. Go out, explore, meet people and experience the beauty around you.

The local cuisine

Escape hotel meals- which can be very disappointing anyway- once in a while. Eat outside. There are countless, exclusively elegant, sea view restaurants. All over the coastline in Antalya!  These heavenly flavors won’t be forgotten.

Club Arma

Club, bar, and restaurant, able to serve 1500 persons. This is the place-to-be. High-quality Mediterranean cuisine, superior service, and elegant ambiance. A dazzling view of the old city’s yacht-port and Bay mountains, complete the picture. After a remarkable dinner on the balcony, you’ll find yourself in one of the three bars, trying several exquisite drinks. Getting ready for the club right above, to dance it out!

Seraser dining

Also located in the old city- Kaleici. Close to Hadrian’s gate. An enchanting ambiance and exemplary Mediterranean cooking at its finest. Culinary art. As appetizers, I would recommend Goat cheese and broccoli souffle or Moules mariniere. As a main dish either Sea bass wrapped in wine leaves or the Mediterranean pearl! If there is room for desert or not, there is no escaping this deliciously sweet, Tarte Tatin. You can certainly not leave without enjoying Turkish coffee after dinner.

Cafe and bars

Antalya has countless cafes for every style from rock bars to classy lounges. The joyful atmosphere, friendliness, and laughter bring sensational positive vibes around you. It’s impossible not to feel and share with them!

One traditional Turkish thing you have to try out. Any Nargile cafe for a water pipe. Most common flavors are apple and mint etc. Although, my only beloved one is red wine flavor with real grapes. It will be hard to find and then when you find it, it’ll be expensive. Yet it is a heavenly taste to smoke (also without nicotine available for non-smokers)

Chateau de Marine

Wine house in the middle of the marina with an amazing view. Try this place out, either before or after sailing with a yacht -Which what you should do anyway! You won’t regret these beautiful moments on the ocean.- Sit and luxuriate in wine tasting, you will be enchanted by this place and all around the old city- Kaleici.

Extrablatt

Right under Jolly Joker pub. A social hotspot with enjoyable drinks and a colorful nightlife. Especially because after socializing down in Extrablatt, you can walk up to Jolly Joker for some live music and entertaining. But the night is young and we are not done! Take a turn into Club Soho for a dance. All within the same building.

Shopaholics be aware

Besides the local bazaars, you could enjoy a fine classy shopping spree. Malls like Terracity, the beloved hotspot for shopping, enjoying coffee and more amongst the elite. Laura and Shemall are not that trendy, although still favored. They are placed next to each other. I used to spend hours in Laura, in the bookstore. I wanted to read all of them like it was a library. Full of old looking books about ancient Egypt.

See some history

Whether go alone or join a group for a trip. This city alone has an incredible amount of historical ruins- some still uncovered. A tremendous archaeological treasure full of ancient mythical tales. Not even mentioning the rest of the country.

Aspendos antique theater

Is known to be the best-preserved ancient theater, which still hosts opera and ballet festivals and shows. A must see! Located in the east of modern Antalya province, close to Side. Greek Aspendos, the ancient city of Pamphylia and Belkis. Here you can find tales and stories like this.

King of aspendos granted the architect who builds the most impressive building for the city, his daughter. Princess Semiramis. An aquaduct and the theater was build. The king admired them both and figured the fair. He suggested to divide her in half. The aquaduct’s artist, accepted the kings suggestion. Whereas the designer of the theater, granted the princess wholy to his rival. The king liked his noble act- knewing he would be a good husband to her, and gave her hand to him. The builder of Aspendos.

The princess’ face is engraved on a wall in the theater, which still is well preserved. You can see the beauty in it. Though, this is not the only story you can find about this place. You will be surprised how far it all goes. Since Side is close by as well, I’d say take a look. You will find more archaeological ruins.

Weekend Getaway In Amsterdam

Dreamy canals and old architectural features, Amsterdam has her own charm. Different than every other city in The Netherlands. My favorite for sure. You will see millions of bicycles, even if it rains like crazy- “you are not made of sugar now are you” they’ll say. A land of cheese and mills, where they make fun of the States for claiming to be a free country.

Luxurious stay in the city’s finest

Despite I like private accommodation more, when it comes to Amsterdam, I much rather staying in a hotel. Some of my favorites are INK Hotel Amsterdam and The Hoxton Hotel.

Ink Hotel Amsterdam

A luxury design hotel. It has an artistic, classy, modern and characteristic interior. An award winning, state-of-the-art design in the heart of Amsterdam.

“Where stories are yet to be written” is this place.

The cozy duke of Windsor. The hotels’ bar and restaurant with a historical interior, which is known to be a popular meeting point. Within walking distance from the hotel, you will find famous museums, theaters, cinemas, the shopping center and many more choices of restaurant/bars.

The Hoxton Hotel

Full of modern, light and refreshing elements. Where cute meets the chic. You have options such as cozy rooms or roomy rooms, to choose from. The hotels’ lovely neighborhood bar and restaurant Lotti’s, looks hip and cozy. The seating area has a glass roof that opens during summer. Velvet plush couches and dimmed lights finish the touch. Even if you don’t stay at the Hoxton, make sure to have an extended brunch over there.

Quality cuisine in Amsterdam

Pure flavors, local ingredients and a monthly changing menu. Choux! They have choices between three dishes and seven dishes per menu and wide options of wine. However, chardonnay went perfectly together with the cuisine. It has a simplified minimalistic design with messy table settings, not exactly what you would expect when you have that high culinary plate in front of you.

A high-quality restaurant on the 19th floor, where top notch service is to be expected. Moon! With a spectacular view of Amsterdam’s waterfront, the river. Since the restaurant is spinning, by the end of your dinner you’ll have made a full round. Make sure you reserve right before sunset! Their cuisine is pure art and heavenly delicious. The building itself -the old shell tower- is a multifunctional party centrum with diverse restaurants, bars, and is the meet-point in Amsterdam.

There where you have to be

Amsterdam is a hotspot on its own. A lively nightlife to museums, cocktail evenings, cafes/bars, restaurants, from culture to pleasure. For every type there is something.

To go get coffee

Lot Sixty One” – Kinkerstraat 112
The best coffee in this city so far. Special self-roasted coffee from all over the world. With every sip, you will feel that place. This coffee you won’t find anywhere else but Lot Sixty One.

Colorful cocktail evening

Hiding in plain sight” – Ropenburg 18
Has such an elegant, mystique and classic style, you’ll feel like a member of a secret society. They have the greatest cocktails in all colors and flavors. The place gives a touch away from the 30’s and 50’s

Things to do

  • Sail over the canals
  • Festivals and concerts
  • Street art tours
  • Try out coffeeshop the Bulldog
  • Bicycle rides over the canals
  • Let your shop-spirit free

After walking plentiful streets and shops in & out, carrying countless shopping bags, I can imagine you are in need of relaxation. Don’t worry though. A few steps around you, there is a walk-in spa. “Sense Beauty & Lifestyle” In the heart of the centrum, for a quick escape.

Festivities around the city

Amsterdam is the place to be for all kinds of festivals, concerts, and the nightlife. When the first sun starts smiling in spring, you’ll see the dutch running out of their caves in shorts and slippers- not to mention the hipster sunglasses. Ready for festival season! Check your dates and keep track of every event around your trip on Timeout. You might be surprised in how many great artists you’ll come across.
